Check The Guidebook

Check The Guidebook

$10.00 (USD)

This monologue incorporates a voice over as well as an onstage actor. The actor ponders over the fact that he really hasn't heard from God, even though he / she has been asking! Maybe this is not the way to go about it. Maybe God's Word should be studied. You know – as in the "Guidebook".

Sample of script:

Narrator ‘Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.’

Once narration is done, actor walks up on stage and into spotlight. Actor is speaking directly to the audience.

Actor Questions, questions, questions. I always seem to have so many questions. I can’t wait until one day I have all the answers. You know, like those really smart Christians you see all over. The ones that sit in the front row at church, the ones who pray so beautifully they sound like they read their Bible 24 hours a day! You know who I mean! I just wish God would give me that kind of wisdom. I wish He would point me in the right direction so that I could find out the answers.

Each time narrator speaks, actor simply bows head and remains still. Lighting does not change.

Narrator ‘Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find;’

Actor You know how people say they have heard God’s call for their lives? I don’t get it. I mean, I’ve been waiting and waiting and yet, nothing! Not even so much as a busy signal! (Smiles.) I know God speaks to us through others, but when is He going to speak to me?

Narrator ‘Knock and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.’

Actor Maybe God doesn’t care about me. I know I’ve made some mistakes in my life, but I’m really trying to live for Him. He knows that, doesn’t He?He does care about me, right?
