Toad: Yes it is. It is a very nice shirt, Frog.

Frog: You should get a new shirt, too, Toad. Wouldn’t you like a new shirt just like mine?

Toad: No thank you, Frog. I like this shirt just fine. I don’t need a new shirt.

Frog: You should get a new shirt. That one is looking a bit tight on you.

Toad: I don’t need a bigger shirt. I like this shirt.

Frog: Okay. (pauses and admires own new shirt, compares it to Toad’s) That brown is really boring. You should get a more cheerful color.

Toad: I like this color. It is toad color. I do not need a different color, I do not need a bigger size. I like this shirt.

(pause)

Frog: You don’t like change, do you, Toad?

Toad: Just because something is new doesn’t mean it is better.

Frog: Oh, yeah? You know what the Bible says. Don’t put new wine in old wine skins or they will burst. Just like your shirt. That’s in Luke. (Frog laughs)

Toad: There’s nothing in Luke about my shirt! (Toad looks huffy and tugs on his shirt) I’ll tell what is in Luke: ‘No one, after drinking old wine wishes for new, for he says the old is better.’ So there!

Frog: You need a design on your shirt, or a flower or something.

Toad: I do not need a design. I do not need a different color. I do not need a different size. I like this shirt.

Frog, gestures to the audience as if to say ‘what can you do?’ I like new things. My shirt is just like it says in the Psalms: (talking to the shirt) ‘Sing to the Lord a NEW song!’

Toad, talks to his shirt: Deuteronomy: Remember the days of old, Consider the years of all generations. Ask your father, and he will inform you, Your elders, and they will tell you. Remember the days of old.
