Actors are the branches, each branch holds on to individual ropes which are connected to thevine. Costuming should make the characters to look like tree branches, with some leaves glued on to each character.

Actors, one at a time, wake up, stretch, yawn.

Arthur: Morning!

Helen: Whaaa . , what’s the racket,. . oh, it’s you, Arthur! You know, it simply never fails to amaze me how you can be such a cheerful branch, first thing in the morning!

Arthur: Why shouldn’t I be cheerful? It’s such a gorgeous morning, the warm sun shining down on us, our vine is sending delicious sap through to each of us branches. It’s great!

Andrew: Great you say? I don’t think so! Maybe you didn’t notice, but it rained last night. I’m still soaked! My bark feels so yucky!

Phyllis: Oh, Andrew, you are forever complaining! Too cold! Too hot! Too wet! Too dry! What next?

Arthur: Please, everyone! We shouldn’t be arguing on such a lovely day! What will our vine think of all this bickering among his branches? We are supposed to be working together.

Helen: Sure, you can say that! I noticed it wasn’t you that Phyllis brushed up against in that wind last night! I’ve got a great big bruise right here as a result!

Phyllis: Oh, really? Well, let me tell you, actually I was trying to keep some of the rain off you! Well, if that’s the thanks I get for my kindness, next time I’ll just . . .

Andrew: You know, sometimes I wonder
