Description
A poem which speaks of the role of the angels who announced the birth of Jesus. Did the angels know what was ahead as Jesus left heaven for an uncertain life on earth? Can be used as a monologue or as a choral reading.
Sample of script:
I wonder if the angels knew, when singing high o'er Bethlehem,
I wonder if they understood the honor God bestowed on them?
I wonder, from their heavenly home, from their glory in the air,
I wonder if they understood God's gift of Jesus, the pains He'd bear.
I wonder if the angels knew?
I wonder if the angels knew, as they looked down upon the earth,
I wonder if seemed unfair, a cave must be His place of birth?
I wonder if they questioned why, the Lord of all creation's power,
I wonder if they were amazed, mere animals witnessed to this hour.
I wonder if the angels knew?
I wonder if the angels knew, how on earth He'd live and die
I wonder if God hid the fact that Jesus would be crucified.
I wonder if the angels knew, if somehow God gave them insight,
I wonder if they understood what God was giving man that night.
I wonder if the angels knew?
