Okay, (confidently), I have to speak- to you about something. This is something that is very important, and serious. I can’t believe that I haven’t already addressed this with you! Anyway, it’s vital that we discuss it. (takes deep breath) Okay, here goes.

Actor pauses as s/he is ready, to start into the explanation.

Now this topic is clearly an important one, you realize! I wouldn’t trouble you if it wasn’t extremely vital for me to say. This is it – this is what I have to say.
(seriously).
Many years ago, I came to the decision that I believe . . . .

(casually, glance downward at shoes of someone in audience, pauses, gets excited)

Those are nice shoes you are wearing!
Do you think those would come in my size? I’m quite fond of blue shoes, maybe even black sometimes, you know? I haven’t bought new . . .

(looks up at what would be a disapproving face in the audience)

Oh, ha ha, sorry, I tend to get a little carried away when I’m excited!
Anyway, I really have to get down to business! The reason why I asked you to meet me here was so that I could explain to you something that you need to know. Listen up!

(pauses for a moment while looking at two people in the audience)

Did you know that you two are wearing the same shirt? Isn’t that just the most embarrassing thing in the world? I can’t stand that when it happens to me!
