Description

Grace is a word Christians cling to, particularly when referring to what has, or what may, happen
in the bad times in their lives. This short drama looks into just what “grace” is and it’s true source.
The grace of God who sent His own Son to earth, to pay for the sins which you and I could never pay. Grace is undeserved and unmerited; it is something that is freely given by God. Grace: a part of God’s character.

Joey is on stage, wandering, acts upset. After short pause, others come onstage.

Robin:   Hey guys, that was a great time shooting baskets.

Joey:   You are gonna start goin’ on about that incredible heavenly move of mine, aren’t you? . . . . I mean, ease up on the praise or I’m gonna get all . ..

Becky, interruptsPraise you Joey? . . Who needs to praise you about your “slam”?
You are a great guy, but sometimes you are your own cheering section!

Robin:   Right on Becky! . . . Joey you have been going on about how you. . . (mocking) . . “moved down the court with effortless grace!”

Joey:  Well, I mean, I did move down the court with grace didn’t I? And doesn’t Coach Adam describe grace in bball as, “simple elegance and refinement of movement on the boards?”

Becky:    Yep, Coach Adam uses exactly those words about grace in basketball. .  But only when he’s talking about someone else. Did you ever hear Coach Adam say something like that about his own moves on the court?

Robin:  Like Becky said, sometimes you are your own cheering section Joey!

Joey:   I guess I do get a touch over-boisterous when I make a great play, calling it my “on-court grace” when it’s just a move Coach taught me.

Becky:   Well, you are a great basketball player Joey.

Robin:  I guess we all go overboard a bit at times Joey.

Becky:   Speaking of “grace” you missed Youth Group last week, it was great! Pastor Earl talked to us about grace.

Joey: Pastor Earl talked to you guys about grace in b-ball? Don’t get me wrong, Pastor Earl is a great guy but hardly athletic, you’ll have to admit!

Robin:  Nope, Pastor Earl was speaking about grace like in the Bible.

Becky:  Bible study was about grace. We studied Titus.

Joey, excited: You studied Mark Titus? I knew I should have been at Youth group! I mean, Mark Titus was a standout for the Buckeyes!

Becky, upset: Titus! The book in the Bible! . .
