Its A Jungle Out There Sketch2

Its A Jungle Out There Sketch2

$15.00 (USD)

Part 2 of an 8 part drama. In this segment a group of women from a church in America arrive in the jungle for their safari. In spite of themselves the encounter goes well. They meet Ontondra, their host, and discuss what is ahead.

Details on the complete series (120 minutes):

It is a jungle out there, and a group of women are going on safari. When there they meet up with all kinds of people, (some of whom are really animals . . no, like, they are actually animals). Add a reporter from BBC London and jungle locals and you have . . not sure what you have, but it is fun.
In each of the 8 segments a (new) rendition of the old song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is used to bring out a theme, or simply to be silly. . . (there is a lot of silly in this script actually).
The point of this drama is that even though it is scary out there in the real world, still God is in control.
Sketch 1 (Opening) sees the planning for the safari going on. (20 minutes)
Sketch 2 is the arrival in the jungle (16 minutes)
Sketch 3 features Molly the gorilla (14 minutes)
Sketch 4 features Stretch (the short-necked) giraffe (15 minutes)
Sketch 5 features Henrietta the dancing hippo (10 minutes)
Sketch 6 features Lucy the leopard (10 minutes)
Sketch 7 features Suzette the (French) lion (10 minutes)
Sketch 8 (Closing) is about leaving the jungle (25 minutes)

This script can be done in 8 separate parts or as one production as a dinner theatre.

Segment 2 – Arriving on safari

Actors: Christa, Monica, Jean, Alma, Connie, Becky, Ontondra

Christa, Monica, Jean, Alma, Connie, Becky come on stage carrying luggage

Alma: Wow, that last 300 miles was some rough.

Monica: We only travelled 30 miles Alma.

Alma: You’re kidding me! . . I was sure it was at least 300 miles.

Connie: That’s ‘cause they measure distance in metric here, makes it seem longer travelling.

Alma: I never thought of that Connie, but what you say makes sense. No way you can travel as far in a day when you are travelling metric.

Connie: Anyone know what time it is right now in metric? I should reset my watch.

Monica: Metric time?

Connie, shocked that Monica doesn’t understand: Well yeah! . . Everyone knows that they use metric time here in the jungle.

Alma: How does that work?

Connie: Well the metric system is based on 100. . . So there’s likely 100 hours in the day.

Alma: No wonder they need to rest in the afternoon, can you imagine staying awake for 100 hours every day.

Connie: I bet they get lots of work done though.

Monica: My guess is we skip right over that conversation and don’t try to understand it.

Jean: Isn’t it some awesome to be here finally.

Christa: For sure it is! All the planning, all the preparation, all the dreaming, all the prayer! And to think that finally we are here on safari!

Connie: What happened to Becky, I hope we didn’t lose her.

Christa: She is taking care of the accommodation details.

Alma: I am so glad I upgraded to luxury suite.

Monica: Where I come from a tent with a flap for a door does not constitute luxury.

Becky comes on stage

Becky: Ladies, your accommodations are being made ready as we speak.

Alma: And I got my luxury suite?

Becky, hands a piece of cloth to Alma: They asked me to personally deliver your tent flap. . . . It wasn’t easy finding one.

Alma, scornfully to the others: See, I told you that most folks would go for the accommodation upgrade.

Becky: No actually they haven’t been asked for a tent flap in . . never before actually.

Alma: I can see it catching on when the others see how great it looks.

Becky: The host, Ontondra, will be along shortly, she will explain the details of the safari.

Monica: I am really looking forward to getting out, getting on the trail of the wild animals!

Jean: Me too! . . The flora and the fauna.

Connie: Are they coming too?

Jean: “They”?

Connie: Flora and Fauna.

Alma: I went to school with Flora, but can’t say I have ever met Fauna.

Christa: Ladies, “fauna” refers to animals.

Description

A group of church women are planning a safari.
This is segment #2 of 8 where the ladies arrive in the jungle. It becomes very evident that some of the ladies are not really “safari-friendly” nor do they necessarily know what “safari” means, but they forge ahead, and they prove it truly is a jungle out there.
In this series they meet up with all kinds of people, (some of whom are really animals . . no, like, they are actually animals). Add a reporter from BBC London and jungle locals and you have . . not sure what you have, but it is fun.
But it is also very evident that God is in control in this expedition.
NOTE: the entire drama,  can be done as a complete 120 minute presentation, order: “Its A Jungle Out There.”

In Sketch2 to Sketch8, (SHOWN BELOW), a (new) rendition of the old song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is used to bring out a theme, or simply to be silly. . . (there is a lot of silly in this script actually), but excellent learning about being a Christian.
